About Us
It all started when we first met in 2003. After our first holiday together we joked about owning our own place somewhere far away, in a country with perfect weather and nice waves. Although we just met and hardly knew each other, the joke became more and more serious, After having searched the internet and visited several possible destinations like the Dominican Republic, Barbados and Carriacou, we still had not found the right spot. We decided to both quit our jobs and just leave Holland, where Marielle was a sportswear buyer for Intersport in Europe and Marc was responsible for European sales & marketing for the surf brand O’Neill.
We planned to learn Spanish for a month and then travel from Central to South America in search of the perfect location. August 6 th 2004 we started our journey in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. We took a Spanish course the first month, surfed and looked around and fell in love with the country. We loved surfing at Playa Maderas and finally went to check out some land there. The first time we visited the land where the Buena Vista Surf Club is right now we could hardly see the ocean; it was totally overgrown. However we set our mind to it and figured that this would be the perfect spot for us. So we put together all the money we had and bought it in September 2004! From there it all started….
